X-Country Skiing Tomorrow
The Weather Network is calling for a low of - 14 degrees C tomorrow morning (feels like - 22 C with the wind). In the afternoon the weather is supposed to warm up to - 9 degrees C (feels like - 14 C). Therefore, the planned field trip to Bill Mason Outdoor Education Centre will proceed as planned.
That said, please help your child to dress appropriately for the weather. We discussed today the importance of dressing in layers and to avoid cotton clothing if at all possible since it becomes very cold when damp with sweat. Although we will be active, we will be outdoors for most of the day.
Also, please remember to help your child pack more food than normal. Since we are learning to cross-country ski, it is normal to burn more calories than at school. Many of our classmates are growing quickly and will likely be hungrier than normal.
