School Council Update #2

More news from our school council is below:

Pizza Lunches (Grades 1 - 6)

Reminder order forms were due today but if you have forgotten, we will accept them tomorrow (Thursday, October 24) also. Please return these to your teachers as we will be sorting the orders tomorrow evening. Pizza will begin next Wednesday, October 30. Also, kindergarten pizza will only be available beginning in January.

October School Council Newsletter

You should be receiving the school council newsletter in the next day or so either a paper copy or electronically. School Council tries to publish them about once a month and we will be putting them on our website. Check out what is happening at FMPS!

Sign In Procedure for Parents and Volunteers

Parents and visitors at the school are reminded to sign in at the office when they are in the school during school hours. At this time, you will get a sticker or badge that you should wear while you are in the school. Teachers and staff have been instructed to request to see the badge or sticker if it is not immediately visible.

Parent Resource Library

Previous school councils have invested in a Parent Resource Library which has reference books in multiple languages on various subjects related to parenting. This Library resides in the office and these resources are available for borrowing to our parenting community. We are looking for someone to maintain and care for this library. If you are interested, please contact us.

FMPS Howlers

Many of our community members have participated in the Ottawa Race Weekend in the past- how about celebrating the 40th anniversary of this amazing event by "running for a reason"? You can have fun, keep in shape and support the Ottawa Hospital all at the same time by joining the FMPS Howlers. This team is open to anyone from the FMPS community- staff, parents and students! Go to Run for a Reason (http://ohfoundation.ca/our-events/run-reason) and follow the instructions to register for the race of your choice and to fundraise for the Ottawa Hospital. Gym Equipment

Do you have some extra soccer balls, skipping ropes, tennis balls and hula hoops lying around? If they are in good condition, you can consider donating these to the school as they are always looking to supplement what is available at the school. They will be providing us with a more detailed list of items that they are looking for as the year progresses.
