An update to Friday's update, UPDATE

Two updates to last Friday's news. Firstly, Mme Hart would like to remind all our families of our Terry Fox goals of raising $3.00 per student. As of now, we are still well short of that goal. Please take a moment to contribute by clicking the link below:

The other important event occurring this week is Orange Shirt Day on Friday. Orange Shirt Day is a growing movement across Canada that is helping to educate our students and communities on the history and legacy of Canadian residential schools.

Orange Shirt Day was created during the St. Joseph Mission Residential School Commemoration Project that took place in Williams Lake, BC, in May 2013. Former First Nations student Phyllis (Jack) Webstad, told the story of her first day at residential school as a six-year old girl, when her shiny new orange shirt, bought by her grandmother, was taken from her, which prompted the realization that many survivors had similar stories.
