Another Great Week!

Week two has come and gone! The students performed admirably during our first Fire Drill this morning. They lined up quietly and exited the building quickly. Our principal even commented on what a terrific job all classes did during the exercise.

Thank you to all the families who had a chance to visit Tuesday night for Meet the Teacher. Please note that I provided a handout at that event. If you have misplaced your handout or did not receive one, please click here to download a copy (PDF).

The last day to order pizza and milk is Monday, 19 September. Please remember to return completed order forms with a cheque made out to Katimavik School Council. Also, all Acceptable Use of Technology forms and Media forms should be returned as soon as possible. If you have not had a chance to send in the Voluntary Student Fee ($20 per child, maximum $40 per family), please do so as soon as possible. Thanks to your generous support, additional activities can take place around the school and in the classroom.

We have begun our academic programming across all subject areas. In PE, we are looking at kicking as our fundamental movement skills and territory games (such as soccer). In Science we are studying Biodiversity (grade 6s) and Human Organ Systems (grade 5s). In Social Studies we are looking at The Role Of Government & Responsible Citizenship (grade 5s) and Canada’s Interactions With The Global Community (6s).

Looking further ahead, we have our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday, September 29 from 12:00 - 12:40 pm and Picture Day will be the following week on Tuesday, October 4.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
